Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their dedicated team based in Cardiff . This role is essential for providing expert advice and solutions for a wide array of ground engineering challenges impacting infrastructure projects across Wales . You will play a key part in site investigations, analysis, and the design of foundations, earthworks, and slope stability measures, contributing directly to the safety and success of construction endeavors. This is an office-based position, fostering strong team collaboration and hands-on project involvement within a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise site investigations, including boreholes, trial pits, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to assess ground conditions and identify potential risks.
• Design foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical structures, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, interpretative reports, and design recommendations.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to provide technical guidance and support.
• Undertake slope stability analysis and advise on mitigation measures.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy or site investigation.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Plaxis , Geo5 , or similar analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology principles.
• Experience in managing geotechnical site investigations and interpreting results.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills for client interaction.
