About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their expanding team in Sheffield . This role focuses on assessing ground conditions and designing solutions for mining stability and infrastructure projects. You will conduct site investigations, analyze geotechnical data, and provide expert recommendations to ensure the safety and integrity of mining operations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical investigations, including site characterization and subsurface exploration.
- Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to assess slope stability, bearing capacity, and excavation stability.
- Design and oversee the implementation of geotechnical support systems, such as ground support, dewatering, and retaining structures.
- Develop geotechnical risk assessments and mitigation strategies for mining projects.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, and drawings.
- Liaise with mine engineers, geologists, and construction teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with specific experience in mining environments.
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., Rocscience suite, FLAC, Plaxis).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both in the office and on site, sometimes in challenging conditions.
