About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their dedicated team based in Cardiff . This role focuses on the analysis of soil and rock mechanics, providing essential expertise for the safe and efficient planning and execution of mining projects. You will play a vital part in assessing ground conditions, designing support systems, and mitigating geological risks. This position requires on-site presence to conduct site investigations, supervise testing, and collaborate directly with project teams in the heart of Wales 's industrial landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site investigations and interpret geotechnical data to assess ground conditions.
- Design and implement foundation systems, slope stability measures, and underground support structures.
- Perform advanced numerical modeling and analysis of soil and rock behavior.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, recommendations, and specifications.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, geologists, and construction teams to ensure project success.
- Oversee on-site geotechnical testing and quality control measures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical investigations and design within the mining or construction sectors .
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology principles.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Must be able to work on-site in Cardiff and travel to various project locations as needed.
