About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Geothermal Energy Project Manager to oversee key projects in Newcastle upon Tyne . This exciting opportunity involves managing the full lifecycle of geothermal energy development projects, from initial exploration and drilling to plant construction and operation. You will play a critical role in advancing sustainable energy solutions within the region, working closely with geologists, engineers, and construction teams. The successful candidate will be a results-oriented leader with a strong understanding of the complexities of geothermal resource development and a commitment to delivering projects on time and within budget, contributing significantly to the UK's energy transition .

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of geothermal energy projects, including planning, execution, and closeout.
• Coordinate with exploration teams to identify and assess suitable geothermal resources.
• Oversee drilling operations, plant design, and construction activities, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and local communities to secure permits and approvals.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and operational best practices in the energy sector .

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering (Geological, Mechanical, or Electrical), Geosciences, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years specifically in the geothermal energy industry or a closely related field (e.g., oil & gas, mining).
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
• Strong understanding of geothermal power plant technologies, drilling techniques, and resource management.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and financial modeling.
