About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and development of their prestigious golf facility. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team in a remote-first environment, ensuring the highest standards of turf care and course presentation. You will be instrumental in shaping the player experience through meticulous attention to detail and sustainable course management practices. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage resources effectively, implement innovative maintenance strategies, and foster a positive team culture, all while working remotely and coordinating with on-site grounds staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive turfgrass management programs, including fertilization, irrigation, pest, and disease control.
- Manage and lead the groundskeeping team , providing training, setting performance standards, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Oversee the daily operations of the golf course maintenance department, including equipment management and budget adherence .
- Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and promote sustainable maintenance practices across the facility.
- Collaborate with course management and ownership to plan and execute course improvement projects.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, chemical applications, and budgets, reporting regularly to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in golf course maintenance , with at least 2 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
- Proficiency in turfgrass science, irrigation systems, and the operation of specialized golf course equipment.
- Certification from a recognized turfgrass management program (e.g., GCSAA) is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage budgets effectively and optimize resource allocation in a remote setting.
- A deep understanding of agronomic principles and environmental stewardship in sports turf management.
