About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Grid Integration Specialist to join their expanding team in Southampton . This role is essential for ensuring the seamless and stable integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems into the national grid. You will be at the forefront of developing and implementing strategies that support a modern, resilient, and decarbonized energy infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in power systems, grid operations, and regulatory frameworks, contributing to the safe and efficient expansion of renewable energy in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement technical requirements and standards for connecting renewable energy projects and storage systems to the grid.
- Analyze grid stability, power quality, and network constraints to identify integration challenges and solutions.
- Conduct detailed studies, including load flow, short circuit, and transient stability analyses.
- Liaise with grid operators, regulators, and project developers to facilitate the smooth integration of new generation and storage assets.
- Develop and review protection schemes and control strategies for grid-connected assets.
- Provide expert advice on grid code compliance and participate in industry working groups.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with a specialization in Power Systems.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in power system engineering, with a focus on grid integration of renewable energy or storage.
- In-depth understanding of power system analysis, dynamics, and stability.
- Familiarity with national and international grid codes and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD, ETAP).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
