About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and forward-thinking Grid Modernization Specialist to join their team in Edinburgh . This role is pivotal in driving the integration of advanced technologies and strategies to enhance the resilience, efficiency, and sustainability of the energy grid. You will work on projects involving smart grid technologies, demand-side management, and renewable energy integration. This hybrid position allows for remote analysis and strategy development, combined with on-site collaboration for implementation and testing. Your expertise will be essential in shaping the future of energy infrastructure in Scotland and beyond, ensuring it meets the challenges of a decentralized and decarbonized energy system.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for smart grid deployment and grid modernization initiatives.
• Analyze grid performance data to identify areas for improvement in reliability and efficiency.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, such as advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), distribution automation, and energy storage systems.
• Collaborate with grid operators, utilities, and technology providers to ensure seamless integration of new solutions.
• Develop technical specifications and project plans for grid enhancement projects.
• Contribute to policy development and regulatory compliance related to grid modernization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems engineering, grid operations, or smart grid technologies.
• Strong understanding of grid architecture, power flow, and network analysis.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems, AMI, and other grid modernization technologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with regulatory frameworks and market structures impacting grid operations.
