About the Role

Our client, a large university with extensive catering facilities in Portsmouth , is seeking a motivated and experienced Head Catering Assistant to supervise daily operations and lead a team of catering staff. You will ensure the smooth delivery of food services across various campus outlets, maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the work of catering assistants, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
• Oversee food preparation, service, and presentation, ensuring adherence to recipes and standards.
• Maintain stringent food safety and hygiene protocols across all catering areas.
• Manage stock levels, including ordering supplies and monitoring inventory to minimize waste.
• Assist in training new catering staff and providing ongoing guidance and support.
• Ensure excellent customer service is delivered to students, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Catering Assistant , Supervisor, or Team Leader in a high-volume environment.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., HACCP).
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
