Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic educator to take on the role of Head of Department for English Literature at a leading secondary school in Wolverhampton . This leadership position involves overseeing the curriculum, mentoring staff, and driving academic excellence within the English Literature department. You will foster a vibrant literary culture, inspire both students and teachers, and play a key role in curriculum development and strategic planning. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and inspire the English Literature department staff to achieve high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a challenging and engaging English Literature curriculum from Key Stage 3 through to A-Level.
- Monitor departmental performance, analyse data, and implement strategies for improvement.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities for department staff.
- Oversee the assessment and examination processes for English Literature, ensuring best practice.
- Contribute to whole-school strategic planning and policy development.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a strong background in teaching English Literature.
- Proven experience in a leadership or management role within a secondary school.
- An in-depth knowledge of English Literature syllabuses and examination requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- A passion for literature and the ability to inspire this in others.
