About the Role

Our client is looking for an inspirational and experienced educator to take on the role of Head of Department for English Literature at their secondary school in Wolverhampton . This senior leadership position involves leading a dedicated team of English teachers, shaping the curriculum, and driving academic excellence in English Literature at both GCSE and A-Level. You will foster a love of literature among students, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and contributing significantly to the school's academic strategy. This is a key role for an aspiring or established leader in English education.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and motivate the English Literature department, setting clear objectives and fostering a collaborative team spirit.
• Develop and oversee the implementation of an engaging and rigorous English Literature curriculum for KS4 and KS5.
• Monitor and improve the quality of teaching and learning within the department, conducting performance reviews and offering professional development.
• Ensure high standards of student achievement and progress in English Literature examinations.
• Contribute to whole-school strategic planning and development initiatives.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in English Literature or a related field.
• Significant experience teaching English Literature at GCSE and A-Level.
• Proven leadership or management experience within a school setting.
• Excellent understanding of curriculum development and assessment strategies.
• Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
