About the Role
Our client is seeking an inspiring and results-oriented Head of Fitness & Personal Training to lead their fitness department at a premier facility in Edinburgh . This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fitness operations, including personal training services, group fitness classes, and the management of fitness staff. You will be tasked with developing innovative fitness programs, driving member engagement, and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery. The ideal candidate is a visionary fitness professional with strong leadership qualities, a passion for health and wellness, and a proven ability to manage teams and P&L effectively, fostering a motivating environment for both staff and members.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the fitness department, including personal training, group exercise, and wellness initiatives.
- Recruit, train, schedule, mentor, and manage a team of certified personal trainers and fitness instructors.
- Create and oversee a diverse schedule of engaging group fitness classes catering to a wide range of interests and abilities.
- Drive personal training sales and client retention through effective management of trainers and program offerings.
- Ensure all fitness equipment is well-maintained, safe, and optimally utilized.
- Monitor key performance indicators, manage the departmental budget, and identify opportunities for revenue growth and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the fitness industry, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
- Nationally recognized Personal Training certification (e.g., CIMSPA, NASM, ACE) is required.
- Demonstrated success in managing personal training sales and operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in developing and managing group fitness programming.
