About the Role

Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced educator to lead the Modern Languages Department at a leading secondary school in Birmingham . This leadership position requires a passionate linguist who can inspire both students and staff, driving excellence in language education across multiple age groups and abilities. You will be responsible for strategic planning, curriculum innovation, and ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning in French, Spanish, German, and other offered languages. Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop the Modern Languages department, setting strategic goals and fostering a culture of academic rigor.
• Oversee the design and implementation of an innovative and effective language curriculum for key stages.
• Promote student engagement and achievement in language learning through dynamic teaching methodologies.
• Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively, ensuring optimal utilization.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing professional development for language teachers.

Requirements

• A relevant degree in Modern Languages or a related field.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and extensive teaching experience within secondary education.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and leadership within a language department.
• Fluency or near-fluency in at least two modern foreign languages.
• Exceptional communication, organisational, and strategic planning skills.
