About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and inspire the Modern Languages department, setting high standards for teaching and learning.
• Develop and implement a progressive curriculum for French, Spanish, German, and other languages offered.
• Oversee departmental budgets, resource allocation, and staff professional development.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide mentoring and support to departmental staff.
• Promote language learning through extracurricular activities, trips, and exchanges.
• Ensure the department meets its targets for student attainment and engagement in external examinations.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in Modern Languages.
• Significant experience in secondary language teaching, with a proven track record of leadership.
• Expertise in curriculum design and assessment in language education.
• Excellent understanding of best practices in language pedagogy.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
