About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to take on the role of Head of Modern Languages Department in Belfast . This senior position involves leading a team of dedicated language teachers, driving excellence in language education across the school, and fostering a passion for international communication and cultural understanding among students. You will be responsible for curriculum development, staff management, and ensuring that all students achieve their linguistic potential through engaging and effective teaching methodologies. Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and inspire the Modern Languages department, fostering a positive and high-achieving team environment.
• Oversee the development and implementation of an ambitious and engaging Modern Languages curriculum for all key stages.
• Ensure the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning, promoting effective pedagogical strategies and innovative approaches.
• Monitor student progress and attainment in Modern Languages, implementing interventions as necessary.
• Manage departmental resources, including budgets and staffing, effectively and efficiently.
• Promote the study of modern languages within the school and encourage student participation in cultural exchange programmes and trips.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Proven experience teaching Modern Languages at the secondary level, with demonstrated leadership potential or experience.
• A strong command of at least one modern foreign language and a deep understanding of language pedagogy.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
