About the Role

Our client is seeking a forward-thinking and inspirational leader to become the Head of the Science Department at a thriving secondary school in Sheffield . This leadership role is responsible for driving excellence in science education (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) across KS3 and KS4, managing a team of dedicated science teachers, and fostering a vibrant, inquiry-based learning environment. You will play a key role in curriculum development, staff professional development, and ensuring outstanding student outcomes in science. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Science department, setting high standards for teaching, learning, and student achievement.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive and engaging science curriculum aligned with national standards.
• Oversee departmental budgets, resource management, and staff professional development.
• Mentor and support science teachers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
• Ensure effective assessment and tracking of student progress in science subjects.
• Promote science beyond the curriculum through extracurricular activities and enrichment programs.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
• Substantial experience in teaching science at the secondary level, with a proven track record in leadership.
• Expertise in curriculum design, assessment, and pedagogical best practices in science education.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
