Our client is seeking an accomplished and visionary Head of Science Department to lead the science faculty at a highly regarded secondary school in Nottingham . This leadership role involves driving excellence in science education across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, inspiring both students and staff. You will be responsible for curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, and ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop the Science department , promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration.
• Oversee the curriculum for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, ensuring it is engaging, up-to-date, and aligned with national standards and examination requirements.
• Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning across the department, providing mentorship and professional development for staff.
• Ensure the safe and effective use of science laboratories and equipment.
• Promote scientific literacy and a passion for scientific discovery among all students.
• Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong academic background in a science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
• Significant experience in teaching Science at the secondary level, with proven leadership experience (e.g., Head of Subject, Second in Charge).
• In-depth knowledge of the national curriculum for Science and examination syllabi (GCSE, A-Level).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
