About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished and visionary educator to assume the role of Head of Science at a highly regarded secondary school in Reading . This leadership position is responsible for steering the Science faculty, fostering an environment of scientific inquiry, and driving excellence in teaching and learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. You will lead curriculum development, manage a team of dedicated science teachers, and ensure that all students are inspired and equipped with essential scientific knowledge and skills for their future. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Science department, promoting innovative teaching methodologies and a positive learning culture.
• Develop and implement a coherent and engaging science curriculum that meets national standards and inspires student interest.
• Oversee the professional development and performance management of science teaching staff.
• Ensure the safe and effective use of laboratory facilities and resources.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in teaching science.
• Significant experience in a leadership or management role within a secondary school science department.
• Expertise in at least one scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) and a good understanding of others.
• Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills.
