About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and dynamic educator to serve as Head of Sixth Form at a thriving secondary school in Reading . This vital leadership role is responsible for overseeing the academic, personal, and social development of students in Years 12 and 13. You will be instrumental in guiding students through their A-Level studies, supporting their university applications, and ensuring they are well-prepared for the next stages of their lives. This position requires strong organisational skills, a deep understanding of post-16 education, and a commitment to fostering an environment where Sixth Form students can excel. You will work closely with teachers, students, and parents to uphold the school's high standards and reputation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic development and operational management of the Sixth Form provision.
• Provide academic guidance and pastoral support to all Sixth Form students.
• Oversee the UCAS application process and advise students on higher education and career pathways.
• Manage the Sixth Form team, including tutors and support staff, fostering a positive and productive environment.
• Monitor student academic progress, attendance, and welfare, implementing appropriate interventions.
• Organise and lead events and activities specifically for Sixth Form students, such as careers fairs and university visits.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience in teaching A-Level subjects and a strong understanding of post-16 education.
• Previous experience in a leadership role, ideally within a Sixth Form or similar setting.
• Excellent knowledge of UCAS procedures and university admissions processes.
• Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
• A commitment to supporting students' academic and personal growth.
