Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client requires a diligent and knowledgeable Health and Safety Officer to champion safety standards on construction sites in and around Belfast . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel. This role is critical in maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation and promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will possess excellent observational skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to preventing accidents and ensuring the well-being of our workforce on active construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific health and safety plans.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate accidents and near misses, reporting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver health and safety training to site personnel and management.
• Maintain accurate records of safety performance, incidents, and training.
• Liaise with external regulatory bodies and ensure adherence to all legal requirements.

Requirements

• Qualified with a relevant health and safety certification (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer within the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage safety programs on Belfast -based construction sites.
