Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health and Safety Officer to join their fully remote construction operations team. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust health and safety policies and procedures across all company projects, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and industry best practices. This remote role requires a proactive approach to risk assessment, incident investigation, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization, even without direct on-site presence. You will be empowered to drive safety initiatives and contribute significantly to a secure working environment for all personnel, regardless of their location.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health and safety management systems.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections (virtually or through designated personnel) to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventative measures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
• Deliver health and safety training and awareness programs to staff and contractors.
• Advise management on all aspects of health, safety, and environmental performance.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Health and Safety, such as NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma.
• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer in the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and construction site requirements.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
