Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health and Safety Officer to ensure the highest standards of safety across their construction sites in and around Wolverhampton . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures to minimize risks and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation. This role is critical to maintaining a safe working environment for all employees and contractors. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to effectively promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures for construction sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, reporting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide health and safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, and incident reports.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure adherence to all statutory requirements.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer , preferably within the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation (e.g., HASAWA 1974, CDM Regulations).
• Relevant professional qualification (e.g., NEBOSH National General Certificate, NVQ Level 3/4 in OHS).
• Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
• Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and implement effective control measures.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
