Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Health and Safety Officer to join their team in Oxford . This role is fundamental to ensuring a safe and compliant working environment across all project sites and operations. You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring health and safety policies, conducting inspections, and providing guidance to site teams. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a strong safety culture within the construction sector in Oxfordshire, with a flexible working arrangement that balances site presence with remote administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
• Develop and deliver health and safety briefings and training to site personnel.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventative measures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and company policies.
• Maintain health and safety records, including accident statistics, training logs, and inspection reports.
• Advise site management on best practices for health and safety management.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer or in a similar role, preferably within construction.
• Relevant health and safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate).
• Good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
• Excellent communication, observational, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in using basic IT software for reporting and record-keeping.
