HGV Class 1 Driver - Trunking Operations

About the Role

Our client is actively recruiting for a qualified and reliable HGV Class 1 Driver to join their established transport team in Sunderland . This role focuses on trunking operations, involving long-distance deliveries between distribution centers and depots with minimal handballing. You will be operating modern, well-maintained vehicles and contributing to the vital supply chain network across the North East, based from our Sunderland depot.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate an HGV Class 1 vehicle safely and efficiently for trunking duties between designated locations.
• Perform routine checks on the vehicle and trailer before, during, and after each journey.
• Ensure that loads are correctly secured and balanced according to safety regulations.
• Adhere strictly to tachograph regulations and working time directives.
• Communicate effectively with the dispatch team regarding ETAs, delays, and any delivery issues.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation of the vehicle.

Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) driving license.
• A current and valid Driver CPC qualification.
• Digital tachograph card.
• Proven experience driving Class 1 vehicles, preferably in a trunking or depot-to-depot role.
• Excellent driving record with no major endorsements.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
