Horticultural Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Horticultural Technician to join their team in Bradford . This role involves hands-on work in maintaining and developing high-quality horticultural displays and growing areas. You will be responsible for plant care, propagation, pest and disease management, and assisting with the design and implementation of horticultural projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for plants, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, contributing to the aesthetic and functional success of the horticultural sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine plant care , including watering, feeding, pruning, and weeding.
• Assist in the propagation of a wide variety of plants, from seed and cuttings.
• Monitor for and manage common horticultural pests and diseases using integrated pest management (IPM) techniques.
• Operate and maintain horticultural equipment, such as mowers, strimmers, and sprayers.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of new planting schemes and garden areas.
• Support senior horticultural staff in larger projects and maintenance tasks.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a horticultural or gardening role.
• Good knowledge of plant identification, care, and cultivation.
• Experience with pest and disease identification and control methods.
• Ability to operate basic horticultural machinery and tools safely.
• A relevant qualification in Horticulture or a related field is advantageous.
• Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
