About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and passionate Horticulturalist to manage and maintain exceptional public parks and gardens in the Manchester area. This role involves hands-on cultivation, landscape design input, and team supervision to ensure our green spaces are vibrant, safe, and ecologically sound. You will be instrumental in developing planting schemes, managing horticultural staff, and engaging with community groups to promote the value of urban green spaces. Key Responsibilities

• Planning, implementing, and maintaining diverse planting schemes across public parks and gardens.
• Supervising and training horticultural teams, allocating tasks and ensuring high standards of work.
• Managing horticultural resources, including plant health monitoring, pest and disease control, and irrigation systems.
• Contributing to the design and development of new horticultural features and landscape projects.
• Operating and maintaining horticultural machinery and tools safely and effectively.

Requirements

• A recognised qualification in Horticulture, Amenity Horticulture, or a related discipline.
• At least 4 years of practical experience in professional horticulture, preferably within public parks.
• Strong knowledge of plant identification, cultivation techniques, and soil science.
• Experience in leading and motivating a team.
• Proficiency in using horticultural equipment and a commitment to health and safety standards.
• Familiarity with designing and implementing seasonal planting displays.
