Location: South London Salary: £25,831 – £36,745 pro rata, dependent on qualifications and experience Hours: 30 hours per week | 39 weeks + 4 additional weeks Contract: Permanent
New Chapter Tuition is working exclusively with a specialist independent education setting in South London to recruit an experienced HR Officer.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an HR professional with experience in education to join a specialist setting supporting young people with SEN, mental health needs, ACEs and trauma-related needs.
The Role
As HR Officer, you will work closely with the senior leadership and HR team, supporting the effective day-to-day delivery of the HR function.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and staff induction
- Preparing offer letters, contracts and employment documentation
- Coordinating vacancy advertising and recruitment administration
- Supporting safer recruitment processes
- Maintaining and monitoring the Single Central Record (SCR)
- Supporting DBS checks and safeguarding compliance
- Maintaining accurate and confidential HR records
- Supporting payroll and performance management administration
- Managing absence, attendance and return-to-work administration
- Supporting staff wellbeing and engagement initiatives
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working within an HR department
- Experience working within the education sector
- Experience using HR systems and working with a range of stakeholders
- Knowledge of employment law and safer recruitment requirements
- A strong understanding of GDPR, data protection and confidentiality
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to prioritise effectively and manage sensitive situations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- A relevant HR qualification, such as CIPD Level 5, Foundation Certificate in People Practice or equivalent
- GCSE English and Maths
Salary & Working Pattern
£25,831 – £36,745 pro rata, dependent on qualifications and experience.
30 hours per week, working 39 weeks plus an additional 4 weeks per year.
