Job Description
Humanities Teacher | East Birmingham
History, Geography & Religious Studies | Secondary Supply Teaching | November 2026 Onwards
Are you a qualified Humanities Teacher looking for new opportunities across East Birmingham?
Aspire People is looking to connect with experienced and newly qualified teachers who specialise in History, Geography or Religious Studies and are confident delivering lessons across the wider Humanities curriculum.
We support secondary schools across Small Heath, Bordesley Green, Yardley, Sheldon, Tyseley and surrounding areas, and we're interested in teachers looking for flexible supply work, regular weekly bookings or longer-term teaching assignments.
If you enjoy bringing Humanities subjects to life, encouraging pupils to think critically and maintaining a positive classroom environment, we'd like to hear from you.
What Opportunities Are We Recruiting For?
We are expanding our candidate pool for future daily supply, short-term cover and longer-term Humanities teaching assignments.
Depending on your subject specialism and the school's requirements, responsibilities may include:
- Delivering engaging History, Geography or Religious Studies lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Teaching more than one Humanities subject where appropriate to your experience.
- Supporting pupils studying GCSE History, Geography or Religious Studies.
- Encouraging discussion, debate, source analysis and independent thinking.
- Planning and adapting lessons to meet different abilities and learning needs.
- Maintaining clear classroom expectations and managing behaviour confidently.
- Assessing pupil progress and providing constructive feedback.
- Working collaboratively with Humanities departments and wider school staff.
For longer-term assignments, planning, marking, assessment and additional departmental responsibilities may be required.
These are prospective opportunities across East Birmingham rather than a confirmed vacancy at one specific school.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are particularly interested in teachers who have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
- A specialism in History, Geography or Religious Studies.
- Experience delivering Humanities lessons within a secondary school.
- Confidence teaching across KS3 and KS4.
- The ability to teach more than one Humanities subject, particularly at KS3.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Experience supporting mixed-ability classes, including pupils with SEND and EAL needs.
- A professional, adaptable and reliable approach.
Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers.
If you are a History specialist who can also deliver Geography, a Geography Teacher comfortable teaching KS3 Religious Studies, or an RE Teacher with wider Humanities experience, we would be particularly interested in discussing your skills.
You do not need to be a specialist in all three subjects. We will consider your strengths and experience when discussing suitable assignments.
