Leicestershire
Working arrangement:
Office-based, with potential for hybrid working
Employment type:
Full-time
Salary:
Competitive, dependent on experience, plus bonus
Envo Talent is working in partnership with an established UK multi-utility and construction services provider delivering electrical infrastructure, utility connections and project management solutions across the energy sector.
With expertise spanning high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical connections, civil engineering, solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS), the business supports projects from initial planning and design through to delivery. Its work includes complex electrical infrastructure projects, with the technical capability to support connections up to 132kV.
As the business continues to develop its project portfolio, it is looking to strengthen its estimating function with an experienced Estimator who understands the technical and commercial demands of electrical utility connections.
This is an opportunity to join a knowledgeable, hands-on team where accurate pricing, sound commercial judgement and collaborative working directly contribute to the projects the business secures and delivers.
Role overview As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and competitive tender submissions across a range of electrical infrastructure and multi-utility projects.
Working closely with project management, clients, subcontractors and suppliers, you will assess project requirements, interpret technical documentation and build accurate pricing schedules that reflect the scope, risks and resources required to deliver each project successfully.
The role requires a strong understanding of HV electrical connections, particularly projects at 33kV and above, alongside the commercial awareness to identify efficiencies, assess supplier costs and protect project margins.
This is a practical, delivery-focused position within a business where the estimating team works closely with colleagues throughout the project lifecycle. Experience with 132kV connections would be particularly valuable.

Review technical drawings, grid connection offers, project specifications and client requirements to establish the full scope of works.
Produce accurate take-offs, pricing schedules and cost breakdowns, ensuring all relevant materials, labour, plant, subcontracted works and other project costs are accounted for.
Assess project requirements and identify commercial risks, potential cost overruns and opportunities for value engineering.
Arrange and attend pre-tender site visits and meetings with clients to clarify project scope, site conditions and delivery requirements.
Work alongside Project Managers to coordinate site meetings with subcontractors and obtain accurate quotations for specialist and subcontracted works.
Source competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, evaluate quotations and negotiate commercially appropriate rates.
Compare supplier submissions against project specifications to ensure proposed costs accurately reflect the required scope and technical standards.
Develop pricing strategies that balance competitiveness, delivery requirements and appropriate profit margins.
Support tender reviews, bid submissions and internal handovers to ensure project teams understand the assumptions, exclusions, costs and risks underpinning each estimate.
Assist with contract administration and commercial matters as projects progress from tender through to delivery.
Maintain clear, accurate records of estimates, tender submissions, supplier quotations, pricing assumptions and tender outcomes.
Build effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams to support successful project delivery.
Professional qualifications and experience
Proven experience in an Estimator role within electrical utilities, Independent Connection Provider (ICP) or Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) environments, or a closely related energy infrastructure discipline.

Experience preparing detailed bills of quantities, cost estimates and competitive tender submissions.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications, grid connection offers and other project documentation.
Experience obtaining, reviewing and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
Good understanding of project costs, commercial risk, pricing strategy and profit margins.
Confidence engaging with clients and attending pre-tender meetings to establish project requirements.
Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills, with a methodical approach to building accurate estimates.
Desirable experience
Estimating 132kV electrical connection projects.
Exposure to NERS-regulated ICP projects and the wider UK electricity distribution network.
Experience across civil engineering, multi-utility infrastructure, solar PV or battery energy storage projects.
