HVAC Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanical Engineer to join their project delivery team in Derby . This role is essential for the design, specification, and oversight of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for a variety of building projects. You will work closely with architects, project managers, and site engineers to ensure that HVAC systems are efficient, compliant with regulations, and meet client requirements. This hybrid role provides a fantastic opportunity to contribute to significant construction and refurbishment projects, applying your specialized knowledge in a collaborative setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify HVAC systems, including air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and extraction systems, using industry-standard software.
• Prepare detailed calculations for heating and cooling loads, airflow rates, and energy performance.
• Produce technical drawings, schematics, and specifications for tender and construction purposes.
• Liaise with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure design intent is clearly communicated and implemented.
• Conduct site visits to monitor installation progress and resolve any on-site technical queries.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant building regulations, energy efficiency standards, and health and safety legislation.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in HVAC design and specification.
• Proficiency with HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, IES VE).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and building physics.
• Knowledge of BREEAM, LEED, or other sustainable building standards is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
