In-House Counsel - Commercial Contracts

About the Role

Our client, a leading company in Portsmouth , is seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to focus on commercial contracts. This role is crucial for supporting the company's commercial operations by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide array of contracts, ensuring legal compliance and mitigating risk. You will work closely with various departments, including sales, procurement, and operations, providing practical legal advice to facilitate business objectives within the Hampshire area. This hybrid position offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute directly to the success of a growing organisation from our Portsmouth base.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including sales contracts, supplier agreements, and NDAs.
• Advise internal stakeholders on contractual terms, legal risks, and compliance matters.
• Manage contract lifecycles and maintain a central contract management system.
• Assist with legal aspects of procurement, tenders, and partnership arrangements.
• Provide general legal support and guidance to business units as required.

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least 3 years' experience in commercial contract law.
• Strong understanding of contract drafting, negotiation, and commercial risk management.
• Experience working in-house or advising commercial clients is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing office and remote responsibilities in Portsmouth .
