About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated In-House Counsel specializing in Commercial Litigation to join their growing legal team in Birmingham . This role is critical for managing and resolving a variety of legal disputes that affect the business, from contract disagreements to regulatory challenges. You will work closely with business stakeholders to provide strategic legal guidance, manage external counsel, and ensure the company's interests are protected throughout litigation processes. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence legal strategy within a forward-thinking organization based in the West Midlands.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all stages of commercial litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
- Provide strategic legal advice to business units on potential litigation risks and outcomes.
- Appoint, brief, and manage external legal counsel effectively, controlling costs and ensuring optimal outcomes.
- Conduct internal investigations and prepare legal opinions on complex disputes.
- Develop and implement litigation strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with court rules, procedural requirements, and reporting obligations.
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 5 years' experience in commercial litigation.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex disputes, preferably within an in-house setting or a leading law firm.
- Thorough understanding of civil procedure rules and evidence in the UK .
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to non-legal audiences.
