In-House Counsel - Data Privacy

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated In-House Counsel specializing in Data Privacy to join their expanding legal department, operating on a remote-first basis. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with global data protection regulations, including GDPR and UK GDPR. You will be the primary point of contact for all privacy-related legal matters, advising internal teams on data handling practices, policy development, and mitigating privacy risks. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive data privacy policies and procedures across the organization.
• Advise on the legal implications of new product development and data processing activities.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advise on mitigation strategies.
• Manage data subject access requests (DSARs) and respond to inquiries from data protection authorities.
• Provide training to staff on data privacy best practices and legal obligations.

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a strong background in data privacy law.
• Demonstrable experience advising on GDPR, UK GDPR, and other relevant privacy regulations.
• Familiarity with data processing agreements and international data transfer mechanisms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
