In-House Counsel

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented In-House Counsel to join their legal department based in Birmingham . This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds, combining the collaborative energy of office-based work with the flexibility of remote days. You will play a crucial role in advising the business on a broad spectrum of legal issues, supporting various departments, and safeguarding the company's interests. This position requires a versatile legal professional who can adapt to evolving business needs and contribute to a streamlined legal function within a growing organisation committed to compliance and ethical practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide timely and practical legal advice on matters including, but not limited to, commercial contracts, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
• Review and draft various legal documents, ensuring accuracy and protection of the company's interests.
• Assist in the management of litigation and disputes, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
• Support the business on corporate transactional work, such as mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
• Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
• Conduct legal training for non-legal staff to raise awareness of key legal risks and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England and Wales with a minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience.
• Experience in commercial law , corporate law, and/or litigation is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid working model.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.
• Proficiency in using legal research databases and standard office software.
