In-House Legal Advisor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive In-House Legal Advisor to join their established legal department in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is integral to supporting the company's commercial operations by providing robust legal guidance and ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations across the UK . You will be instrumental in managing contractual obligations, advising on risk management, and contributing to the legal strategy of the organisation. The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial acumen and a commitment to delivering practical, effective legal solutions within a busy and supportive office environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate various commercial contracts, leases, and licensing agreements.
• Provide legal support for day-to-day business operations, addressing queries from internal stakeholders.
• Conduct legal research on relevant case law and statutory provisions affecting the business.
• Assist in the management of litigation and dispute resolution, liaising with external counsel when necessary.
• Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
• Advise on corporate structuring, company secretarial matters, and governance best practices.

Requirements

• A law degree and relevant professional qualification (e.g., Solicitor, Barrister, CILEX) with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Demonstrable experience in commercial contract law and general corporate advisory work.
• Thorough knowledge of UK legal and regulatory requirements pertinent to business operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• A pragmatic approach to problem-solving and a client-focused attitude.
