Industrial Automation Technician - Sheffield

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Industrial Automation Technician to join their team, serving the Sheffield region with a hybrid working model. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated systems, PLCs, robotics, and control systems within industrial environments. This role demands a strong technical background in electrical and mechanical engineering, coupled with excellent diagnostic skills. You will ensure the efficient and reliable operation of complex manufacturing processes, contributing to productivity and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain automated industrial machinery and systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and software issues related to PLCs and control systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure system reliability and minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
• Assist in the design and implementation of automation upgrades and modifications.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Industrial Automation Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), robotics, and HMI systems.
• Proficiency in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
• Good communication skills for collaboration with clients and team members in Sheffield .
