Industrial Engineer - Process Improvement

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Industrial Engineer with a focus on process improvement to join their manufacturing facility in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This role is crucial for driving efficiency and productivity by analyzing current operations, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous enhancement. You will work closely with production teams to identify waste, streamline workflows, and implement solutions that directly impact output and cost-effectiveness. The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about optimizing industrial processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze existing manufacturing processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose data-driven solutions for improvement.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing techniques, such as 5S, Kaizen events, and value stream mapping, to reduce waste and optimize flow.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality in production.
• Collaborate with the production floor team to implement changes and provide training on new processes.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, throughput, and cost.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and process modifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering , Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2-4 years of experience in an industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering role, with a focus on process improvement.
• Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
• Experience with process documentation and developing SOPs.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret production data.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
