About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Industrial Engineer specializing in product flow optimization to join their esteemed team in Cambridge . This role is critical for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of products and materials through all stages of the manufacturing and distribution process. You will analyze current material handling systems, design improved layouts, and implement lean strategies to reduce lead times, minimize work-in-progress inventory, and enhance overall operational throughput. The position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with production, logistics, and engineering departments to achieve optimal product flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze current production and logistics processes to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in product flow.
- Design and implement optimized factory and warehouse layouts, material handling systems, and workstation configurations.
- Utilize lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, minimize inventory, and improve cycle times.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for material handling and production processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new products and processes into the existing flow.
- Track key metrics related to throughput, inventory levels, and lead times, and report on performance improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial engineering with a focus on product flow and logistics optimization.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, including Just-In-Time (JIT) and Kanban systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software for layout design and simulation tools.
- Experience with inventory management techniques and material handling equipment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
