Industrial Maintenance Fitter

About the Role

Our client is seeking a reliable and skilled Industrial Maintenance Fitter to join their operations team in Portsmouth . This role is critical for ensuring the optimal functioning and longevity of industrial machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and performing necessary repairs to minimize downtime. Working within a fast-paced manufacturing or processing environment, you will contribute significantly to the efficiency and productivity of the site in Hampshire , upholding the standards of the Installation & Maintenance department.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and lubrication of industrial machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs, including welding, fabricating, and replacing parts.
• Interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and schematics to guide maintenance activities.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in good working order and stored correctly.
• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Industrial Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Fitter.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in fitting, machining, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience with fault finding and diagnostic procedures on industrial equipment.
• Good practical skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Must be able to work on-site in Portsmouth and be available for occasional shift work or call-outs.
