Information Security Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive Information Security Analyst to join their growing security operations team in Portsmouth . This role focuses on monitoring, detecting, and responding to security threats and incidents to protect the organisation's digital assets. You will be part of a critical team responsible for maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an analyst keen to develop their skills in a hands-on, operational security environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from various security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, etc.) to identify potential threats.
• Investigate security incidents, performing initial analysis and escalating as necessary.
• Assist in the development and refinement of security monitoring rules and procedures.
• Support incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Conduct regular vulnerability scans and assist in the remediation of identified vulnerabilities.
• Contribute to security awareness initiatives and provide basic security support to end-users.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in an information security or IT support role with a security focus.
• Familiarity with security concepts, including networking, operating systems, and common threats.
• Basic understanding of SIEM tools, firewalls, and antivirus solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
