Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Information Security Engineer to bolster their security infrastructure in Birmingham . This role is critical for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security solutions that protect the company's networks, systems, and data. You will play a key part in engineering and deploying security technologies, ensuring they are effectively configured and operational. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs.
• Develop and implement security engineering standards and procedures to ensure consistent and secure deployments.
• Conduct security reviews of new systems and applications before they are deployed into production.
• Automate security tasks and processes where possible to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Respond to and resolve security-related incidents and escalate complex issues as needed.
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security measures into the overall IT strategy and architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as an Information Security Engineer or similar role, with at least 4 years in a hands-on security engineering capacity.
• Strong technical expertise in network security, endpoint security, and cloud security solutions.
• Hands-on experience with security technologies such as firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco), IDS/IPS, endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or PowerShell for automation.
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST or ISO 27001.
