Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Information Security Engineer to bolster their security posture at their Coventry office. This critical role will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining technical security controls to protect sensitive company data and IT infrastructure. You will work hands-on with various security technologies, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure the continuous operational efficiency of our security systems. The successful candidate will be part of a vital team contributing to the security and resilience of our operations in the West Midlands, operating from our central Coventry hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and manage security solutions such as firewalls, VPNs, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and identity and access management (IAM) systems.
• Conduct regular security audits and reviews of IT systems and infrastructure to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Respond to and investigate security alerts and incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain security documentation , including architecture diagrams, configuration guides, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with IT operations and development teams to embed security principles into the infrastructure lifecycle.
• Perform risk assessments on new technologies and systems before deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Information Security Engineer or in a similar technical security role.
• Strong understanding of network security principles, including TCP/IP, routing, and firewalls.
• Hands-on experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container security.
• Familiarity with security scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus.
