Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and technically adept Information Security Engineer to join their established team based in Coventry . This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining the security infrastructure that protects the company's critical information assets. You will play a key part in architecting secure solutions, managing security tools, and ensuring the resilience of our systems against evolving cyber threats. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of security engineering principles and a passion for building secure, scalable systems within a collaborative IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
• Develop and maintain security infrastructure documentation, including network diagrams and configuration guides.
• Perform security testing, including penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, and manage remediation efforts.
• Respond to security alerts and incidents, conducting forensic analysis and implementing containment strategies.
• Collaborate with system administrators and network engineers to ensure secure system configurations and operations.
• Stay current with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies, recommending appropriate countermeasures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Information Security Engineer or similar role.
• Hands-on experience with network security devices and protocols.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation of security tasks.
• Solid understanding of threat modeling, risk management, and security architecture principles.
• Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or CCNA Security are advantageous.
