Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Information Security Engineer to join their dedicated security team in Birmingham . In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of security infrastructure and solutions that protect the organization's sensitive data and systems. You will work closely with IT operations and development teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of the technology lifecycle. Key Responsibilities

• Implement and manage security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint security solutions.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including network diagrams, security procedures, and incident response plans.
• Conduct regular security audits and assessments of systems and applications to ensure compliance with policies.
• Respond to security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security controls into new and existing infrastructure.
• Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and solutions to enhance the company's defence capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience as an Information Security Engineer or in a similar security operations role.
• Hands-on experience with network security devices and protocols.
• Familiarity with cloud security concepts and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Strong understanding of security best practices and common attack vectors.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
