Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and technically adept Information Security Engineer to join their expanding security team in Nottingham . This role is responsible for the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of security technologies and solutions that protect the organization's network, systems, and data. You will work closely with IT operations and development teams to integrate security measures and respond to security incidents. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer eager to apply their technical skills in a vital security function.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and manage security tools and technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and endpoint security solutions.
• Monitor security infrastructure for performance and security issues, and take corrective actions.
• Perform regular security assessments and vulnerability scanning of network and system infrastructure.
• Participate in the incident response process, assisting in the investigation and remediation of security breaches.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including network diagrams and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security best practices are followed in system deployments and configurations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Information Security Engineer or in a similar technical security role.
• Strong knowledge of network security concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, firewalls, IDS/IPS).
• Experience with endpoint security solutions and threat detection/prevention tools.
• Proficiency in scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation is a plus.
• Relevant security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or CCNA Security are desirable.
