Information Security Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Information Security Manager to lead their security initiatives in Newcastle upon Tyne . This leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organisation's overall information security program, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical data. You will oversee a team of security professionals, drive security awareness across the company, and liaise with senior management on risk management and compliance matters. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive information security strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the information security team, fostering professional growth and high performance.
• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of security controls, policies, and procedures across all IT systems and infrastructure.
• Manage the organisation's incident response plan, coordinating efforts during security breaches and leading post-incident analysis.
• Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) and industry standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, identify potential security vulnerabilities, and implement mitigation strategies to protect company assets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience (7+ years) in information security, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership capacity.
• In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing security policies and managing security teams.
• Strong understanding of risk management, compliance frameworks, and incident response.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC are essential for this role.
