About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly qualified and analytical Insurance Actuary to join their established team in Reading . This critical role involves using mathematical and statistical methods to assess financial risks and liabilities associated with insurance policies. You will play a key part in pricing products, managing reserves, and contributing to the strategic financial planning of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical skills and a deep understanding of the UK insurance market , driving informed financial decisions from our Berkshire base.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and capital management.
- Analyze insurance data to assess risk, forecast future liabilities, and determine policy premiums.
- Prepare and present actuarial reports and recommendations to senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to the development of new insurance products and the enhancement of existing ones.
- Ensure compliance with relevant actuarial standards, regulations, and accounting principles.
- Collaborate with underwriters, finance, and risk management teams to provide actuarial insights.
- Support the company's capital adequacy requirements and solvency assessments.
Requirements
- Fully qualified Actuary (FIA, FSA, or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience in general insurance or life insurance actuarial roles.
- Strong expertise in statistical modeling, data analysis, and programming (e.g., R, Python, SQL).
- In-depth knowledge of actuarial software and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., Solvency II).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment within our Reading office.
