Insurance Risk Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a sharp and analytical Insurance Risk Analyst to join their dedicated team in Edinburgh . This role is critical in identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks faced by the company across its insurance products and operations. You will utilize sophisticated data analysis techniques and modeling to provide insights that inform strategic decision-making and enhance risk management frameworks. This office-based position in the heart of Edinburgh allows for close collaboration with various departments, including underwriting, claims, and actuarial teams, fostering a comprehensive approach to risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of new and existing insurance products and business processes.
• Develop and implement risk models, using statistical techniques and data analytics to quantify potential exposures.
• Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and provide regular reports to senior management on the company's risk profile.
• Identify emerging risks and recommend proactive strategies for mitigation and control.
• Collaborate with underwriting and claims teams to ensure risk appetite and control measures are effectively applied.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of the company's overall enterprise risk management (ERM) framework.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a risk analysis or similar quantitative role, preferably within the insurance sector.
• Strong analytical skills with expertise in data analysis, statistical modeling, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or similar.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex findings clearly.
• A degree in a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and risk management best practices in the financial services industry.
