About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Insurance Underwriter to join their Birmingham office. You will be responsible for assessing and evaluating risks associated with insurance applications, determining appropriate coverage terms, and setting premiums to ensure profitability and compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and assess insurance applications to determine risk exposure and eligibility for coverage.
- Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and pricing strategies to ensure profitability.
- Communicate effectively with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders to gather necessary information and clarify policy details.
- Monitor industry trends and market conditions to adapt underwriting strategies accordingly.
- Review and approve or reject insurance applications based on risk assessment and company policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of underwriting decisions and portfolio performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Insurance Underwriter , preferably in a specific line of insurance (e.g., property, casualty, life).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment principles, financial analysis, and insurance market dynamics.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
- Familiarity with underwriting software and regulatory requirements.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ACII) are highly desirable.
