About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and analytical Insurance Underwriter to join their fully remote team, remotely serving the Newcastle upon Tyne region. You will be responsible for assessing and accepting insurance risks, ensuring that policies are priced appropriately and align with the company's risk appetite. This role requires a sharp mind for detail, a strong understanding of risk assessment principles, and the ability to work autonomously from a home-based office. You will collaborate virtually with brokers and agents to build profitable business relationships while upholding stringent underwriting standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate insurance applications to assess risks and determine insurability.
• Set appropriate terms, conditions, and premiums for new and renewal policies.
• Maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents, providing expert underwriting advice.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activities to ensure competitive and profitable underwriting.
• Adhere to underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance.
• Collaborate with claims and actuarial teams to refine underwriting strategies and pricing models.

Requirements

• Solid experience in insurance underwriting, with a focus on risk assessment.
• Strong understanding of various insurance products and their associated risks.
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with keen attention to detail.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and data analysis tools.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills for interacting with stakeholders.
• Relevant professional certifications such as ACII are advantageous.
