About the Role
Our client is looking for a meticulous and analytical Insurance Underwriter to join their team in Newcastle upon Tyne . In this hybrid role, you will be responsible for assessing and evaluating insurance risks, determining appropriate coverage levels, and setting premium rates to ensure profitability and manage the company's risk exposure. You will work closely with brokers and agents, providing expert advice on risk selection and policy terms. This position is ideal for an individual who possesses strong financial acumen, excellent judgment, and the ability to balance risk management with business development objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze financial data, risk assessments, and other relevant information to evaluate insurance applications and determine eligibility.
- Set appropriate premium rates and terms for new policies, ensuring alignment with company guidelines and market conditions.
- Review and underwrite renewals, adjusting terms and pricing based on policyholder history and risk profile changes.
- Collaborate with sales teams and brokers to provide underwriting expertise and support business growth.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks that may impact underwriting decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Insurance Underwriter or in a closely related underwriting role.
- Strong understanding of actuarial principles, risk assessment methodologies, and insurance products.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and MS Office Suite.
